When it comes to your family session, picking out outfits and figuring out what to wear can be tough. It’s hard enough to figure out what you’re going to wear, let alone what your whole family will wear! Luckily though, if you’re struggling with how to find the perfect outfits to wear, you’re in the right place!

Kick your feet up and keep on reading for tips on how to skip the stress of picking out what to wear to family photos!

CREATE A COLOR SCHEME

Creating a color scheme is going to save you so much time and will really help to narrow down your options. Pick out 3-5 colors you love and use them as your color palette. If your session is going to be at the beach maybe wear some whites, tans, or a pop of color! Just make sure you stick to your color palette so it all feels cohesive!

DRESS FOR THE WEATHER

Sometimes the weather can be unpredictable so being prepared for the weather is important! Always bring an extra jacket if it’s cold out. You don’t want to be uncomfortable while having your photos taken because any uncomfort will typically translate into the photos.

ADD MOVEMENT

When I say add movement, I mean wearing clothing that is flowy like skirts, dresses, tops, etc. Flowy clothing always results in more fun, breathtaking shots making the photos look stunning! If you are someone who usually wears more tight-fitted clothing, then it might be fun to mix it up a bit!

PINTEREST

When in doubt, pin it out! Pinterest is an amazing app for gathering inspiration for what to wear to your family session and will help tremendously if you’re more of a visual person. It helps to see what outfits look good in certain locations and editing styles.
