Senior photos are such a fun way to celebrate everything you’ve accomplished and capture who you are during your senior year. And while picking out your outfits can feel like a big decision, it really doesn’t have to be complicated!
The best outfits are the ones that make you feel comfortable, confident, and most like yourself. You don’t need to follow every trend or go out and buy a completely new wardrobe. A few outfits you already love can photograph beautifully and make your senior photos feel much more personal to you.
If you’re not sure where to start, here are a few simple tips to help you plan what to wear for your senior photos.
Bring a Few Outfit Options
I recommend bringing two or three outfits so we can switch things up throughout your session. Try choosing looks that feel a little different from each other. You might bring your favorite jeans and a cute top for something casual, a dressier outfit, and one look that shows off more of your personality.
Wear What Feels Like You
You don’t need to completely change your style for senior photos. If you’re usually in jeans and sneakers, wear them! If you love dresses, bring your favorite one. The more comfortable you feel in your outfit, the more comfortable you’ll feel in front of the camera.
Think About Your Location
Your session location can help you decide what to wear. A downtown Charleston session might be perfect for something a little dressier, while a beach or outdoor session can work well with a more relaxed outfit. We can also plan your outfits around different spots so you get plenty of variety in your gallery.
Add Some Color and Accessories
Neutrals are always an option, but you definitely don’t have to avoid color. Choose shades that you love and already feel good wearing. Accessories are another easy way to change up your photos. Jewelry, a jacket, sweater, hat, or different pair of shoes can make one outfit feel completely different.
Bring Something Personal
Senior photos are about documenting who you are during this season of life, so feel free to bring something that represents you.
A college sweatshirt, sports jersey, instrument, dance shoes, or something connected to a hobby can be a fun addition. We can use it for just a few photos without making it the focus of your entire session.
Choose Outfits You Can Move In
We’ll do plenty of moving around during your session, so make sure you can comfortably walk, sit, and move in everything you bring. Try your outfits on before your session. If you’re constantly adjusting something or don’t feel completely comfortable in it, choose something else!
There really isn’t one perfect outfit for senior photos. Choose a few things you love, make sure you feel good in them, and have fun with it.
